Biography
Zhi Wei Seh is a Senior Principal Scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, A*STAR. He received his BS and PhD degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University and Stanford University, respectively. His research interests lie in the design of new battery materials beyond lithium-ion technology. As a Highly Cited Researcher and Royal Society of Chemistry Fellow, he is recognized for designing and licensing the first yolk-shell nanostructure in lithium-sulfur batteries. His team pioneered the first waterproof magnesium metal anode, and the first anode-free magnesium battery with five times the energy density of standard magnesium batteries.
Zhi Wei Seh has authored more than 150 papers and 20 patents/know-hows, receiving over 40,000 citations and a h-index of 70. He has published in top journals such as Science, Science Advances, Nature Energy, Nature Materials, Nature Reviews Materials, Nature Reviews Clean Technology, Nature Catalysis, Nature Machine Intelligence, Nature Synthesis, and Nature Communications.
